Join Soul|Light EcoTherapy for a beautiful winter solstice and havdalah ceremonial night hike! We will meet at lookout point and hike our way up to a beautiful vista point complete with labyrinth and panoramic views under the stars to share fire, light, and song with community. Please note that the hike involves some both gradual & steep incline and is about 3 miles round-trip. Let's sweeten the darkness with our song and bring light to the darkest night of the year in community. When: Sat Dec 21st 6:30-9pm Where: Meet at the lookout bench at 3556 Dwight Way Bring: Comfortable hiking shoes, thermos w/warm drink, warm layers/blanket & hat, headlamp, candle, snacks, and a winter song to share! RSVP to samantha.kanofsky@gmail.com Solstice: the darkest night of the year. We are turning inward. Havdalah: a Jewish ritual/ceremony to separate Shabbat, the sacred day of rest, from the work-week, involving candles, spices, wine, and singing to awaken the senses. To go in the dark with a light is to know the light. To know the dark, go dark.Go without sight, and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings, and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings. - Wendell Berry, from "Farming, A Handbook"
